![]() ![]() Police departments, sheriff's offices and other government agencies provide fingerprinting services to the general public. Affiliate Fingerprinting Locations may provide additional background check services. Some locations will use a live scan machine to capture the fingerprints and then print the FD-258 card. Live Scan operators may contact us for information about becoming a National Background Information preferred location.Īffiliate locations can capture fingerprints on a standard FD-258 fingerprint card for submission to the FBI. Preferred Live Scan Locations are not available in all areas. Preferred Live Scan Locations may provide other background check services such as passport photos and drug testing services. Processing times at DOJ and FBI can vary and are not under the control of the Board.Preferred locations provide the fastest service by electronically transmitting fingerprints to National Background Information. The DOJ will not process fingerprints without a fee. Failure to include the required fee will cause significant delays in the Board submitting hard cards to the DOJ. The current fingerprint processing fee for DOJ and FBI is $49.00 and is payable to the "California Board of Registered Nursing" by check or money order. You may also request one from the Board by using our Fingerprint Request Form (please allow 3-5 business to process).įor detailed information on completing the manual fingerprinting card, please see Instructions for Completing a Fingerprint Card. You may also obtain an FD-258 card at your local law enforcement agency, such as a police station or sheriff’s office. If you are located in the US, before requesting a card, please check the facility at which you will be fingerprinted to determine whether they will provide an FD-258 card or require you to bring your own. The FD-258 card is the standard fingerprinting card within the US.
